Underwater Photography
(continued)
4. Start with a super wide-angle
lens:
The most useful lens for
underwater photography is a super wide-angle lens. A
super wide-angle permits the greatest range of possible
compositional choices without having to change lenses.
Underwater camera equipment is very
expensive compared to land cameras. As a general rule, the
cost is three to five times that of conventional camera system.
But once the investment is made, the difference between a super
wide-angle and a normal wide-angle lens is negligible.

A super wide-angle lens allows the photographer to get everything from
"seascapes" to close-ups. A full description of the
benefits, and why this lens is so versatile, is found in the
Lenses section.
