Computers and Monitors:
I use two dual-core HP
computers, a laptop and a desktop with 3 gigabytes of RAM. I
use the desktop primarily for graphics work so the extra RAM comes
in
handy for such intensive
programs like Photoshop. For a desktop monitor, I use the HP w2207h. I find the new line of
wide-screen HP
monitors to be the perfect compromise between quality, utility and
affordability.
2. Software:
For digital photographers
there's no substitute for
Photoshop. It's the industry
standard. Since I also do graphics and web
design, it's absolutely essential. Currently I'm using CS2,
along with
Lightroom, another essential piece of software for today's
digital photographer.
For presentation of the finished
product, nothing I've ever used comes close to
Photodex's ProShow
software. Creating the right presentation is often as important as
image selection when showing your work to prospective
clients. These programs are covered in more detail in the
Recommended Software section.
3. What's on my wish list...
One of my pet peeves (in
addition to the one about people who own camera equipment I drool
over but don't know how to use) is the apparent tendency of some
manufacturers to design equipment more suited to engineers than
the actual end user. Sometimes the feature-rich options and menu
choices are more of a hindrance than a help. For underwater
