 Disadvantages of Digital:
 1. Film cameras have a much
greater choice of lenses, strobes and other accessories.
This makes obvious sense since film
cameras have been marketed for much longer. But the popularity of
digital photography guarantees that this will change very quickly.
 2. Shutter delay:
The delay between clicking the shutter and capturing the image is
often slow, especially on entry-level digital cameras. For moving subjects this often means that the subject
has moved away from the point of focus. Film cameras, by contrast,
respond to the shutter virtually instantaneously.

 3. Daylight viewing:
              Sunlight
will "bleach out" the LCD screen: often the photographer is forced
to "cup" the viewer with one hand while simultaneously trying to
take the picture. This is extremely awkward. Conversely, for
night-time photography, the LCD is often far superior to the
optical viewer of a film camera.
 4. Contrast and color
              saturation: high contrast
situations tend to "blow out" detail in digital cameras because of
their extreme light sensitivity and lack of tonal range. This sensitivity reduces the
camera's ability to render subtle changes in color saturation. | |

              | To me, this is the greatest
weakness of digital cameras, though the problem is much less
apparent on today's newer digital cameras. Several years ago,
it was a serious factor. Digital cameras are   |
