Care &
Maintenance: (continued)
• |
Double-check all connections and cover plates before beginning
dive. In some housings, like the clear Ikelite ones, you can
actually see if the o-ring is "flattened" when you clamp the
back shut --look for a "stripe" of uniform width. This
tells you that it is sealed properly |
• |
Always carry a small toolkit with you that has essential
supplies like silicon grease, small screwdrivers, q-tips (for
cleaning out the o-ring channels), etc. |
• |
Remove any batteries before you put your equipment in storage |
• |
Never lend out your equipment. Nobody will care for it like
you do |
• |
Test all equipment thoroughly in a controlled situation first,
like in a swimming pool |
• |
If you think this advice is nonsense, buy camera insurance! |
