" Alien Seas "

This is a composite of two underwater images.

The original slides were scanned with a Nikon Coolscan and then the resulting images were blended seamlessly in PhotoStudio.

The alien components (starburst, planet and clouds) were added using Photoshop and several plug-ins, then the layers were "blended" together to create the overall effect.

Sea Facts:

The Brain Coral (below) and the Fire Coral (above) both owe their existence and growth to symbiotic algae that live within their cells. Corals are colonial animals that build massive limestone reefs.

Fire Coral derives it name from the tiny stinging cells in its tentacles which deliver a burning pain when touched.
