Schooling behavior is believed to be a natural defense against predators:  it is difficult to single out an individual victim among a swirling mass of fish.

Sea Facts:

Recorded shark attacks world-wide number approximately 50-80 per year, most from one of 3 species: great whites, bulls and  tigers. More people are killed by bees and lightening strikes than by sharks.
