" Anemone Drops "

Underwater drops hover over a green sea anemone. A Nikon Coolscan was used to digitize the the original Fujichrome slide.

The resulting digital image was manipulated in Photoimpact, to create the water drops which move among the anemone's tentacles, and Photoshop was used to enhance highlights and reflections.

Sea Facts:

Sea anemones have stinging cells at the end of their tentacles. The tips contain tiny harpoons that carry venom. On contact with its next meal, the venom is injected into its prey, leaving the fish or crab paralyzed. The tentacles then pull their victim into the anemone's mouth.
